Privacy Policy — Rethought

Rethought ("the App", "we", "us") is a digital-wellbeing app that helps you limit time on distracting apps and websites. We designed Rethought to be private by default: your usage data stays on your device.

Summary

• We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data.
• We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party trackers.
• Your app/website selections and settings are stored only on your device.
• Screen Time data is handled on-device by Apple's frameworks and is never sent to us.

Information we process

On-device only — never transmitted to us:

• Screen Time / Family Controls data. On iOS the App uses Apple's Family Controls, DeviceActivity, and ManagedSettings frameworks. The apps, categories, and websites you choose to restrict are represented by opaque tokens that Apple keeps on your device. We cannot see which specific apps or sites you select, and this information never leaves your device.
• Your settings and content. Reminder times, reframe questions, reminder messages, and calls-to-action you create are stored locally on your device.

We do not collect: name, email, contacts, location, advertising identifiers, or usage analytics.

Permissions we request

• Screen Time / Family Controls — to block and shield the apps, categories, and websites you choose.
• Notifications — to deliver reminders and blocking notifications. Optional.

Data sharing

We do not share data with third parties. We have no backend server that receives your data. Apple processes Screen Time data on-device under Apple's own privacy policy.

Purchases

If in-app purchases are offered, they are processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment details.

Children

The App relies on Apple's Family Controls. If used by or for a minor, restrictions are managed through the device's Screen Time settings. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Data retention & deletion

Because data is stored only on your device, you can delete all of it at any time by deleting the App.

Your rights

As we do not collect personal data, there is no personal data for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf. You remain in full control of the on-device data described above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; the "Effective date" above will change accordingly.
